Announcements for the week

First Quarter grades will be due soon! Monday, October 16 will be the last day any late work for the quarter will be accepted. Parents please check Power School because many students owe me work.

Please complete and return the Federal forms that were sent home with your children last week. We have to have 100% compliance. If you have already completed and sent your form back, we thank you.

Parents, please be aware that most student assignments on their tablets can be done on any Internet-connected computer or phone. Just because a tablet is not working doesn’t mean the assignment can’t be done if you have a computer or the student has a phone. Contact the teacher if you have questions.

Assignments coming up

Advanced students need to continue working on the Unit 3 USA TestPrep homework assignment that will be due week after next.

Last Week Ahead September 24

We started Unit 2: Nomadic Life this past Monday. This unit started by examining how early humans did hunting and gathering to survive. Not only did students watched my video about Hunter-Gatherers, they also did a reading of Hunter-Gatherer technology, performed a skit about human migration from Asia, through Beringia, and into the Americas, and a Hunter-Gatherer simulation.

Next week we move on to the Agricultural Revolution and how it helped humans provide more sustainable food sources along with domesticating animals for food and labor. The Agricultural Revolution allowed humans to settle in one place, created labor specialization, development of the trade/barter economy, and the rise of human settlements.

Assignments due last week: Unit 2 Vocabulary, GRAPES Project.

Assignments coming up next week: USA TestPrep Unit 2 Assignment (Advanced Students), Hunter-Gatherer Flocabulary (Standard Students), Agricultural Revolution Readings, Agricultural Revolution Timeline, Unit 2 Test Review, and Unit 2 Test.

The students will be assigned a project to demonstrate their knowledge of GRAPES and I have asked them to take photographs that represent each letter of GRAPES. Next week we will be starting Unit 2 with a pretest and unit vocabulary. We will finish the week by studying early human Hunter-Gatherers.

Parents, it is my intention to have students continue learning during out time out of school. This is the classes will not be too far behind when we return to classes. All assignments will be posted on Google Classroom, which can be accessed on any Internet-connected computer. Students have been told to take photos for an upcoming project. The requirements for these photos are listed on Google Classroom.
